The 50th International Dortmund Chess Days were the perfect chess festival for aspirants for IM or GM titles. A total of seven norms were achieved, three Grandmaster norms and 4 norms for the title International Master.

What a finish in the A-Open of the 50th International Dortmund Chess Days! Alexander Donchenko wins his endgame after 5.5 hours against Ori Kobo, draws level on points with Frederik Svane and wins the tournament on fine rating.

Due to his weaker Buchholz rating he had to play for a win with Black in the last round. The Alekhine Opening was the perfect choice, the Malaysian got an early advantage and won the game against the long-time leader Pola Seemann.
