Dortmund, 1 July 2025 - As part of the International Dortmund Chess Days, the German Football Museum is presenting the spectacular blitz chess festival ‘Women Playmakers on the Chessboard’ on Tuesday, 5 August. The four participants in the International Women's Tournament - live, exciting and prominent right in the heart of German football.

The Sparkassen Chess Trophy 2025 has once again announced itself as one of the most important chess events in Germany. Already now, well over a month before the start, 59 title holders are firmly registered in the prestigious A-Open. These include 16 grandmasters - impressive proof of the enormous appeal of this traditional tournament.

In its 52nd edition, the renowned chess festival will be part of the official FIDE Circuit 2025 for the first time. This will give the traditional Sparkassen Chess Trophy even more international significance and make it even more attractive for many top players.

In August, you will visit us at the Alte Schmiede cultural centre for the Sparkassen Chess Trophy 2025 in Dortmund-Huckarde. However, we would like to inform you that at the very same location an attractive event organized by Dortmund's oldest chess club will be taking place as early as next month.
