But Kasapchuk's maths worked out - he had a clear lead in the Buchholz before the round and remained in first place with his draw. Kasapchuk only came to Germany from the Ukraine 2.5 years ago, has lived in Dortmund ever since and plays for Schachfreunde Brackel 1930.

Andreas Leidig finished in third place after his draw against Kasapchuk with 6 points from 7 games and the best Buchholz rating.
The prize for the chessemy game of the day was presented today by IM Jonathan Carlstedt. Thomas Rosenberg was happy about the 100,- € voucher for chess courses from chessemy. Rosenberg capitalised on a tactical error by his opponent in the final round and finished in a strong fourth place.
Alicia Hövelmann from SV Turm Hohenlimbug wins the women's prize in the B-Open with 5.5 points from 7 games. The two best U18 players were also the two best overall in the B-Open. As Kasapchuk and Walter won the higher main prizes, Pius Kappelhoff is awarded the U18 youth prize in 9th place in the overall standings.
