Another 2600 grandmaster registered for the A-Open

The winner of the highly competitive Werder anniversary tournament in Bremen has registered for the A-Open of the 51st International Dortmund Chess Days: GM Aditya Mittal also wants to shake up Germany's most traditional chess festival.

Siegerehrung A Open 2024 minAt the age of 17, the Indian grandmaster has already passed the 2600 rating mark and plays for Werder Bremen in the German national chess league. Last year, he already won the strong Astana Zhuldyzdary Open ahead of renowned grandmasters and recently added to his tally at the Werder anniversary tournament: with 7 points from 9 games, he won by a clear margin.

4 months before the start of the tournament, he is already the fifth grandmaster with a current rating of over 2600 on the list of participants for the A-Open. As last year (photo award ceremony 2023), this tournament will once again offer excellent opportunities for title norms and rating gains and, at the top, an exciting battle for the top prize of €4,000. Both open tournaments are limited to 200 participants per tournament at the Alte Schmiede cultural centre in Dortmund. Early registration is therefore recommended in order to secure your starting place.
