Two of the most important chess organisers in Germany are handing over responsibility for the International Dortmund Chess Days. Carsten Hensel has been working for Germany's most traditional chess festival since 1991 and Stefan Koth since 1994. In recent years, they have further developed the event together with the association Initiative Pro Schach (IPS) e.V., which was founded in 2019, and built up a strong organisational team, to which they are now handing over the event organisation.
There will be additional special prizes during the International Dortmund Chess Days. In cooperation with chessemy GmbH, the game of the day will be chosen from 10 to 17 August.
After the A-Open of the 51st International Dortmund Chess Days had already reached its capacity limit, the B-Open is now also full! In both tournaments, 200 participants will take to the boards. The organisers IPS e.V. are delighted with the great interest and look forward to a great chess festival in Dortmund!

In 2024, the Sparkassen A-Open will take a central spot at Germany's most prestigious chess festival. With Dmitrij Kollars and Frederik Svane, two German national players will compete against international grandmasters shortly before the Chess Olympiad and play for the €20,000 prize fund for the open tournaments.
