Pola Seemann had to play with Black against the strong youngster Oleksandr Kasapchuk from Schachfreunde Brackel in the B-Open today. She was able to continue her winning streak and now stands at 6 out of 6! Among the pursuers, only Dr. Burkhard Behle was able to score full points, so that he is only half a point behind with 5.5 points. Tomorrow he has the chance to challenge the leading Polish girl with White.
Among the 569 participating players there are numerous small and big stories. One of them took place yesterday on board 21. Filipa Pipiras played with White against the big favourite GM Gata Kamsky. Kamsky tried for a long time, but Pipiras held the game to a draw and achieved a special success. She is the first woman from Portugal to reach the 2300 Elo mark and can claim the Fidemeister title. Congratulations!
