She was the big winner at the Women's World Cup in Batumi – after a tiebreaker, Divya Deshmukh won the final against Humpy Koneru this week, crowning the greatest triumph of her young career.
She herself did not expect to make it all the way to the final and had actually planned to travel to the Sparkassen Chess Trophy 2025 to participate in the A Open. Unfortunately, due to some official appointments in her home country of India, she will not be able to make it to Dortmund in time and has to withdraw her participation.
The organisers of Initiative Pro Schach e.V. fully understand and congratulate her on winning the title! An invitation to the 2026 International Dortmund Chess Days will follow, and Deshmukh has already promised to try to make room for the tournament in her schedule next year.
