The Sparkassen Chess Trophy is providing further new incentives for ambitious chess players: the top three finishers in the B-Open 2025 will receive an exclusive invitation to take part in the A-Open of theInternational Dortmund Chess Days 2026 free of charge. This innovation underlines the organiser's commitment to promoting talented players and enabling them to progress to higher performance categories.
The B-Open 2025 is aimed at players with a DWZ/ELO below 2051 and offers a prize fund of €3,990. The rating limit does not play a role in inviting the top 3 of the B-Open to the A-Open 2026, so that success this year will be rewarded regardless of rating numbers.
The main prizes are endowed as follows
1st place: € 850
2nd place: €530
3rd place: €300
4th to 10th place: tiered cash prizes between €200 and €40
The tournament will take place from 2nd to 9th August 2025 at the ‘Alte Schmiede’ cultural centre in Dortmund. The games of the B-Open will be played in the morning, so that participants have the opportunity to follow the games of the grandmasters in the A-Open live in the afternoon.
A maximum of 200 participants will be admitted to each open. As the organiser, Initiative Pro Schach e.V., is expecting a full house, early registration via the website is recommended in order to secure a starting place.
