The match between the two best German women in chess, Elisabeth Pähtz and Dinara Wagner, started on Sunday. Wagner opened the game with White.
The district mayor of Dortmund-Huckarde opened the match, not without first mentioning the importance of the event for Huckarde.
"I wish you all exciting chess days, "Glück auf"!"
Wagner gained an advantage and had a promising position in the middlegame. Immediately after the game, both players recognised 22.e4? as a mistake that greatly reduced White's advantage. As a result, Wagner was able to work out an endgame with an extra pawn, but Pähtz drew the game very confidently and strongly.
On the first board, GM Anton Korobow fought a Najdorf theory duel with Julian Nöldner. Korobow gradually gained an advantage and finally won in the rook + bishop endgame. National player Frederik Svane also won convincingly on the second board on stage. GM Quesada Perez made particularly short work of his opponent, winning with Black in a remarkable 21 moves. All in all, a good day for the participating grandmasters in the A-Open.
Meanwhile, in the B-Open, 29 participants are still without a point loss with two points from two games. It continues here with the third round on Monday at 10.30 am.
