He was awarded grandmaster in 2022 and has now already shot up to the 2600 rating mark: GM Frederik Svane, current German No. 8 in the rankings, will participate in the A-Open of the 50th International Dortmund Chess Days just like his brother GM Rasmus Svane.
At the latest since his world championship title in the U16 age group, Frederik is known throughout chess Germany. The 19-year-old is already on his way to the German national team and could form an important part there in the next few years together with his brother. His style of play is creative and combative, and Frederik is also a strong player in online blitz chess. In his last big tournament, the European Championship, he performed strongly and wants to take the momentum into the Sparkassen Chess Trophy. There, the prize fund in the open tournaments is 25,000 €, 5,000,- € alone for the tournament winner in the A-Open!
