GM Jan Werle is the third Grandmaster in the Sparkassen Open A

Already more than 100 registrations in the Open of the 49th International Dortmund Chess Days

After GM Iniyan Panneerselvam (IND) and the German top player GM Niclas Huschenbeth, the third grandmaster has now already registered for the Sparkassen Open A of the 49th International Dortmund Chess Days: Jan Werle, Dutch grandmaster, player in the German Chess Bundesliga for years. Werle has been a grandmaster since 2006 and has already exceeded the magic ELO of 2600. He currently has a rating of 2550 and plays for SV Werder Bremen.

The three grandmasters are followed by other title holders in the seedings. With Aditya Mittal and Krishna CRG, two Indian international masters and the Aachen-based IM Christian Braun from the SG Porz. Braun is not only a strong player himself, but also a well-known chess trainer and author of opening courses and articles. So you can already guess that the quality in the Sparkassen Open will be very high and there will of course be a chance to play for coveted title standards. But registration is also going strong across the board: A total of over 100 places on the list of participants were now quickly filled. The maximum in both tournaments is 300 participants in July.
