Yesterday evening, as part of the 52nd International Dortmund Chess Days, an eleven-round blitz tournament was held at the Dortmund Chess Club (DSV) 1875 e.V., which provided exciting games and many memorable moments.
Twenty-eight participants gathered in a relaxed atmosphere, including numerous players from the B Open of the Sparkassen Chess Trophy.
Worth mentioning is the performance of Phuc Nhat Nguyen, who emerged as the best participant from the B Open and took fourth place with eight points.
At the top, it was a very close race: Joachim Hengelbrock and Kirill Krasovskiy both scored 9 points from 11 games. Thanks to a better tiebreaker, Hengelbrock secured first place and with it the prize of a free entry to the 2026 Open.
The tournament offered participants an entertaining evening of chess that perfectly reflected the spirit of the International Dortmund Chess Days. Christian Jochmann (photo), chairman of the organising association, Schachtage Initiative Pro Schach e.V., was not only present but also took part as a player.
