After the successful start during the 48th International Dortmund Chess Days 2021, an Online Open in No Castling Chess will be offered for the second time during the Sparkassen Chess Trophy in 2022! The first preliminary round will start on the first day of the tournament, 16 July. The final will take place on 24 July.
Last year, GM Krishnan Sasikiran, a world-class player from India, won the first major open tournament in chess without castling. This year, his victory even earned him an invitation to the NC World Masters with Viswanathan Anand, Vladimir Kramnik and Daniel Fridman, even though he is now unfortunately unavailable from playing at Dortmund. In 2022, chess players from all over the world will again have the opportunity to be a part of the International Dortmund Chess Days. The tournament will again take place on lichess. Those interested can simply register for the tournament with their account in the lichess group: https://lichess.org/team/sparkassen-chess-trophy-dortmund
In the three preliminary tournaments on 16 July, 17 July and 18 July, the players have the chance to qualify for the final on 24 July. The 8 best players who have not yet qualified for the final will reach the final tournament, which last year already had a top-class line-up with several title holders.
The winner will receive an invitation to Dortmund to the 50th International Dortmund Chess Days 2023 with bed and breakfast in the official players hotel! The second and third place winners can win an entry fee-free participation in 2023. The first three places in the preliminary tournaments will also each receive a ChessBase voucher worth 30 euros as a voucher code.
