On Thursday 6 August, a rapid chess tournament will take place at the Dortmund Chess Club 1875 e.V. as part of the International Dortmund Chess Days.

If there’s one thing you can say about these Dortmund Chess Days, it’s that there’s no shortage of wild games. Perhaps the craziest game of the tournament so far was played today on board two of the B-Open.

On the evening of August 4, the Initiative Pro Schach e.V., in cooperation with the German Soccer Museum, hosted the event “Women Playmakers on the Chessboard.” In Conference Room “N11,” the players from the International Women’s Tournament competed in a blitz tournament. In this unique setting, the nearly 100 guests enjoyed a fantastic view of both the Plaza of German Unity and the 64 squares.

It was a very quiet day at the International Women’s Tournament today. Klaudia Kulon opted for the solid Russian Defence against Natalia Buksa, who had won a sharp Najdorf game the previous day. Just as she had done the day before, Kulon, playing Black, made no mistakes and exchanged pieces with Buksa fairly quickly to reach a knight endgame, in which they agreed to a draw.
