It's just six months away! It still seems a long way off, but the organisers, Initiative Pro Schach e.V., are already busy making plans. The first grandmasters have already been confirmed for the popular A-Open.
Already registered are:
GM Matthias Blübaum (Germany) – defending champion, European champion, 2026 World Championship candidate and currently in the form of his life
GM Surya Shekhar Ganguly (India) – second place last year with 7 points from 9 games
GM Peter Acs (Hungary) – a top European GM for over 25 years, multiple Hungarian national player at the Olympiad
GM Rafael Vaganian (Armenia)– former semi-finalist in the World Championship Candidates Tournament, winner of numerous world-class tournaments and 2019 World Senior Champion
GM Milos Pavlovic (Serbia) – two-time winner of the Biel Masters Tournament, also a successful chess coach and popular author
WGM Song Yuxin (China) – Grandmaster and IM, 2025 Asian Women Champion, ranked 24th in the world among women
Registration via the website is now open. Due to the capacity limit of 200 participants per open tournament, early registration will secure you a place. GM Artur Jussupow will once again be on site to commentate live on the top games in German.
