Starting the German Individual Championships as the favourite and always leading, she made it close in the end, but won the title in the rapid tiebreak: Dinara Wagner is German Champion 2025 and will travel to Dortmund in August with the title in her luggage!
In the absence of Elisabeth Pähtz, Wagner clearly led the field of the individual championships after 4 rounds. She beat her national team colleagues Josefine Heinemann and Lara Schulze. Everything looked set for a march to the title. But after two black draws, her game against Charis Peglau slipped completely out of her hands in the seventh round.
Hanna Marie Klek was able to catch up with Wagner and after 9 rounds a play-off was on the cards. Dinara Wagner prevailed 2-0 in the two rapid games and was crowned German champion after all. The Initiative Pro Schach e.V. members congratulate her and the confident German champion Vincent Keymer!
The next highlight for Wagner will start on 3 August as part of the International Dortmund Chess Days. She will face Elisabeth Pähtz in the International Women's Tournament. She will also face shooting star Miaoyi Lu and the winner of the Augsburg International Women's Tournament, Deimanté Cornette, in a double round-robin tournament. Her rapid chess skills could also be important then. As a new feature of the Sparkassen Chess Trophy, the tiebreak will be played out among all participants during the tournament. Further information on this will follow shortly.
In the meantime, the registration phase for the two open tournaments is underway. In the A-Open, there is a chance to meet the reigning European champion Matthias Blübaum, among others. Blübaum finished a strong runner-up behind the outstanding Keymer at the German Individual Championships.
