The International Dortmund Chess Days can look forward to seeing a familiar face in 2026: Dmitrij Kollars will once again take to the board in Dortmund for the Sparkassen Chess Trophy. The grandmaster will compete in the A Open, already generating great excitement among fans and organisers alike.

Indian grandmaster Surya Shekhar Ganguly will once again be competing in the Sparkassen Chess Trophy 2026. After finishing second behind GM Matthias Blübaum last year, the experienced top player is returning to the prestigious tournament, enriching the field of participants with his vast international experience.

It's just six months away! It still seems a long way off, but the organisers, Initiative Pro Schach e.V., are already busy making plans. The first grandmasters have already been confirmed for the popular A-Open.
